“Keep a notebook. Travel with it, eat with it, sleep with it. Slap into it every stray thought that flutters up in your brain. Cheap paper is less perishable than gray matter, and lead pencil markings endure longer than memory.”
— Jack London

Coming July 7 — 10, 2022

Instructors: Gina Panettieri, Paula Munier and Amy Collins

Nonfiction is sold on proposal, so writing a winning nonfiction proposal is a skill you need to master and we’re here to help! Whether you’re contemplating writing about a fascinating historical event, a gripping true-crime ripped from the headlines, a family member’s remarkable past, a lively self-help guide, or a roadmap for business success, it’s essential to not only include all the necessary elements of a proper proposal, but to write persuasively and clearly, to convincingly detail your qualifications to write the work, and make your case for the viability of the project. The market for nonfiction is robust but competitive, and you need to sharpen your skills to give your book its best chance.

Instructors: Julie Bogart, Adam Oyebanji, Eric Smith and Robert Lee Brewer

In “Breaking In: How to Successfully Pitch a Book for Any Genre,” writers will learn how to successfully pitch a book for any genre, whether they’re writing fiction or nonfiction. Plus, they’ll learn more about the process after the pitch is accepted. Writers who attend will find themselves one step closer to successfully pitching their books—whether in person or in their query letters!

Each registration comes with access to the archived version of the program and the materials for one year. You do not have to attend the live event to get a recording of the presentation. In all WD webinars, no question goes unanswered. Attendees have the ability to chat with the instructor during the live event and ask questions.

You will receive a copy of the webinar presentation in an e-mail that goes out as soon as possible after the live event. The answers to questions not covered in the live presentation will be included in this e-mail as well.
